How to DIY Fit a Bathtub Into a Bathroom

If you have the need to replace your bathtub, but don’t want to renovate your entire room, you may find that you can cut costs by knowing how to fit a bathtub yourself. If you are a competant DIY’er, then you can take this on quite successfully. Many new homes have bathroom sink-equipped walls. You can easily remove your existing bathroom sink and place the new one in place of the old one. There are several options available when you want to know how to fit a bathtub into a room. All it really takes is a little time and creativity.

Before you tackle this project, make sure that the room is empty of furniture and other items. You may also want to clear out the room to ensure that there is enough space for the installation. If your bathroom is large, you may need a friend or two to help you lift all of the items so that you can move them around for placement. When removing your old bathtub, it is important to be careful not to damage your flooring. You should place a dolly between the bathtub and the floor so that you can slide your dolly under the tub while you move it around.

You will first want to measure your room and decide where on the wall you would like the tube to be installed. The height of the tub must correspond with the height of the room. If you are not sure of this measurement, you can use a tape measure to determine the perfect fit. Marking the spot where you want to place the tub in the room will make it much easier during the installation. This will also allow you to plan for plumbing and electrical features that you may want to incorporate.

You can start with measuring the space available for fitting a bathtub. Measure the width, length, and depth of your bathroom. If there are any existing fixtures, measure them as well and take measurements of the bathroom area where they are to be placed. A good idea would be to draw up a sketch of your new bathroom layout.

When you are done with the drawing, make sure you have a copy for your records. Draw the new holes for the plumbing pipes and then mark the exact place for the new fixtures. Marking the plumbing pipes is necessary because you want to avoid any mistakes when you are installing the new bathtub. Now, assemble the pieces that you marked and add them one at a time to the already assembled bathroom.

The next step of bathroom installation and repair is installing the waterproofing material. It will be advisable to contact a plumber who will be able to advise on what will be the best type of protection for your new fittings.
